The new SOLAS regulation (Safety Of Life At Sea) has applied since 01.07.2016. It states that all products stowed in sea freight containers must be weighed with verified scales. To determine these gross weights, two methods are offered by the SOLAS regulation. Application of Method 2 is an alternative to weighing the packed container. In the calculation method, the individual masses of the load, the accumulation material and the lashing material as well as the tare of the container are to be taken into account.
